Cambodia and South Korea Discuss Enhancing Investment Collaboration

Phnom Penh, April 11, 2024 – Cambodia and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have engaged in discussions aimed at further enhancing Korean investments within the Cambodian kingdom. This vital dialogue unfolded during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister SUN Chanthol, who also serves as the First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Park Jung-Wook, the South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia. The meeting was convened at the CDC headquarters in Phnom Penh on April 10.

During this significant encounter, both parties deliberated on several Korean investment projects seeking support and facilitation from their respective governments. The goal was to review these ventures and provide essential technical advice to ensure their successful realization.

Deputy Prime Minister SUN Chanthol seized this opportunity to update Ambassador Park Jung-Wook on the progress of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) within Cambodia. He highlighted that the country currently hosts a total of 26 SEZs. Notably, 20 of these zones offer one-window service from relevant ministries and institutions, streamlining the process for investors to address and resolve any challenges they might encounter.

This meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of both Cambodia and the Republic of Korea to foster a conducive environment for investment and to deepen their economic ties. Through such collaborative efforts, both nations aim to achieve mutual benefits and contribute to the broader economic development of Cambodia.
